Go, Doubting Nothing

Go, Doubting Nothing

By Steve Backlund

“Then the Spirit told me to
go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house” (Acts 11:12).

In Acts chapter 11, Peter tells the other Apostles why he fellowshipped with Gentiles and ministered to them as described in Acts 10. This was forbidden for Jewish people, and many were upset about it. “Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, ‘You went into uncircumcised men and ate with them!’”

Peter shares the supernatural phenomenon he experienced (trance, vision, hearing a voice talking to him, etc.) that caused him to do something so risky. In the middle of his explanation, he says, “Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing.” I believe the phrase “Go . . . doubting nothing” is a “now word” for many reading this today.

Before I go further with this powerful truth, I want to write what I am not saying in this message. I am not saying that we can elevate experiences and encounters above what is clearly stated in the Bible. With that said, let’s continue with this word.

“Doubting nothing” is another way of saying to attach faith to what we are doing and to be fully convinced. Let’s look at two verses about being fully convinced (doubting nothing).

  • “One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to have a good process of decision-making, and then “doubt nothing” in our minds.
  • “(Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform” (Romans 4:20-21). We learn here that it is a process for us to become stronger in faith, and our faith goal concerning who we are is to be fully convinced (doubting nothing).

Another powerful verse on living doubt-free is in James 1.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God . . . But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind” (James 1:5-6). These verses are like the tracking number that we get when we order something to be delivered to our house. When I receive the tracking number, I immediately attach faith that what I ordered is coming. In the same way, when we ask for wisdom to know what to do, we are to go (after we pray) fully convinced we will know what to do.

One final verse: “
Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). We can walk in a “doubting nothing” mindset that God will finish what he started in me, in my loved ones,  and in my nation.

God has empowered us to be confident, fully convinced, and “doubting nothing” as we go, and move forward in life. Even if you have recently been battling insecurities and lacking confidence, I am confident that He who has begun a good work in you will keep on completing it until you go to your heavenly home.

Finally, the Spirit told Peter to go and doubt nothing regarding a new thing God was doing. Peter needed a big confirmation to break out of the old and into the new. There are people reading this who are grounded in the Word, and have been very faithful in their assignment, who are now going to embark on a new thing others may question. However, the confirmations are so big that it would take more faith to not do it than to do it. You are hearing the Spirit say to you, “Go and doubt nothing.” There is a gift of faith manifesting in you as you go. And, I am hearing it will make a huge difference for the kingdom.

Bless you all!!
