"Living a Fully Convinced Lifestyle"

Living a Fully Convinced Lifestyle

By Steve Backlund

“Let each be fully convinced in his own mind.” (Romans 14:5)

“(Abraham) was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and
being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:20-21)

One of the goals of Christian maturity, sanctification, and transformation is to be increasingly fully convinced in our own minds. We are not just being conformed to the image of Christ in our behavior, but, more importantly in our thinking.

Consider these thoughts:

  • Faithfulness is not just showing up; it is how we think when we show up. We show up “full of faith” that something positive is going to happen.
  • A bad decision made in faith has a greater likelihood of success than a good decision made in doubt. ( I am not saying we should sin in faith, but this is a powerful principle to apply to situations in our lives.)
  • Whatever actions we do not attach faith to is “sin”(Romans 14:23) - we miss the mark (the bullseye) in what could happen.
  • Cheerfulness is a main evidence we have attached faith to what we have decided to give ourselves to in beliefs, causes, commitments, responsibilities, and assignments (2 Corinthians 9:7).
  • Much of our tiredness results from not attaching faith to what we are doing and who we are. Living in doubt and non-faith-filled obedience drains us of our energy.

I have written a book on these things called
Fully Convinced: The Art of Decision-Making. I believe it is my most powerful book to date. I wrote it because I see an “epidemic” of doubt, double-mindedness, unworthiness, insecurity, insignificance, and guilt. My own struggles with these things has caused me to press into the Lord for His perspective and wisdom.

This “fully convinced” message will help us overcome: the tendency of second-guessing our decisions and beliefs in areas like:

  • Whether or not we are righteous
  • Whether we should spend the money or not
  • Whether or not we should feel bad about ourselves when we see someone who is doing things better than we are
  • Whether we are responding to a relational situation correctly
  • Whether or not we should stay in a job, church, or relationship
  • Whether or not what we are doing is significant
  • Whether or not we should have decided to do “that”

Do you want more of this message? It has dramatically impacted my beliefs and decision-making, and I know it will do the same for others. We are running a LIVE version of
our 8-week Fully Convinced course with connection opportuntiies and extra content starting in June. We will only run it live once this year, and we invite you to jump in and receive more of this message that will be catalytic to your life. Click here to find out more.
