Christmas Story Prophetic Words for You
By Steve Backlund
“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).
Testimonies are one of the five sources of healthy mind renewal (Romans 12:2). These are:
God’s promises
Our biblical identity
Prophetic words
Testimonies
Decisions and commitments we have made
Testimonies of what God has done are important in establishing our belief systems about what our future will look like (Mark 8:18). Every testimony we hear proclaims to us something God is doing and will do. The most powerful testimonies to remind ourselves of are the stories in the Bible. This certainly (or especially) includes the stories concerning the birth of Jesus.
I have written below some of the prophecies I see in the Christmas story. I have put them as beliefs to declare. (Declarations are verbal proclamations of our faith beliefs. They are a main way we renew our minds.) If we are going to experience something higher, we need to believe something higher; and if we are going to believe something higher, we need to hear something higher. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
Teenagers around me are surrendering to world-impacting encounters and assignments (consider Mary)
Integrous boys and men are being increasingly raised up to co-labor with girls and women who have huge callings and assignments (Joseph)
Because of their connection with the Holy Spirit, women around the world are being raised up to supernaturally birth salvation, deliverances, healing, and healthy kingdom advancement (Mary).
God is opening our eyes to see and support the big things He is doing when it seems small (Wise men, Anna, Simeon)
God is using circumstances to move us into key parts of our prophetic purpose (the census of Luke 2)
The right people are coming to us with the resources we need (the Magi/Wise Men brought wealth for Mary and Joseph)
God is protecting what He is birthing through us (Joseph’s dream to go to Egypt)
Key prophetic words about my family and region are being fulfilled in this season (Old Testament prophecies being fulfilled by Jesus)
Say these out loud. As you do, you are participating in God’s plan to see these manifest today in our lives. And, as you meditate on the marvelousness of the Christmas story, you will see more truths to strengthen your beliefs about the days ahead.
In closing, I bless you with not only revelation of what Jesus’ birth prophecies to us personally and about situations in the world today, but also with increased wonder and appreciation for the salvation God brought for the world through baby Jesus. Merry Christmas from all of us at Igniting Hope.
“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end” (Isaiah 9:6-7).
